Apple Picking Time...

It is so hard to believe that it is apple picking time again.

This is one activity we look forward to every year.

We headed out early so that we would beat the heat of the day and get there before it was too crowded.

By 9:00am we were on our way to Sky Top Apple Orchard in Hendersonville, NC. The drive is not long, about 45 minutes.

When we arrived there was a nice chill in the air and a slight breeze.

I have to say that it was so refreshing.

The trees were loaded with apples this year.

It was really nice to see families and couples out picking apples.

As we picked we munched on quite a few apples, you have to sample them as you go.

Spencer finally climbed up into a tree this year to pick those apples way up high. J

By the time we left, the sun was really blazing down and it was getting hotter. *phew*

The view from the orchard of the Blue Ridge Mountains is stunning; pictures do not do it justice.

We ended up picking a 1/2 a bushel mixed of Gala and Honey Crisp apples.

Plus we had to buy some fresh apple cider.

mmm… apple cider.

There are plans to head back on Friday after the boys are out of school to get some of the other apples that will be coming into season.

Simply a perfect day.

*Some of my other photos of the day are in my Flickr badge on the right.
