Time to tell...

 *shudder* the dreaded Dr's scale
but perhaps not for much longer
So three weeks ago I found a new Dr. and I am thrilled that I have. She is wonderful!
I have never liked going to the Dr's ever but things just might be a changing now.
It was a routine visit for some rechecks of BP. Well, I approached her of the issue of my weight and how I simply struggle with it. She looked at me and said, " I believe you and know exactly how you feel. I just lost 60 pounds myself last year."  This admission by her totally blew me away and made me really tune into what she had to say. Hints were given on what I should try and how to keep myself from falling off the wagon. (Trust me I have fallen off one too many times.)
She mentioned to me that we will try a few things and if the results are not forth coming then she will do some testing on me to get to the bottom of it all. *happy dance*
It is not easy but I am going full force this time to get this weight off of me once and for all. We went over what I ate and she stated she was impressed.  I can say that I do not eat chips, no ice cream(renders me ill), very little bread if any, no pretzels, sometimes cookies if I make them, and soda 2x per month. The problem is my love for cheese which I have since really limited *sigh* . With the bit of fine tuning of my portions over the past 3 wks I am now down 3 pounds - no exercise.
I know, I know ... that needs to be added in and will be.
I am thrilled and log every last single item down in MyFitnessPal for my iPhone. (Love this app!)
This will be the year I shed this extra weight and get myself in shape.
Plus, it feels good to get it out in the open.
No, I will not be changing the format of my blog to a weight loss blog but I think from time to time I will share with you items that I enjoy on this journey.

Groupon - Fun way to save some money

I have fallen in love with Groupon!

This is a website that offers one day deals that are quite hard to pass up.

I have purchased a variety of them since January of this year with nice chunk of change as savings.
Just this past week for the area I live in there was a deal for 2 movie tickets and a bucket of popcorn for $12!
I snapped up a $20 Groupon for Barns & Noble in February which I am going to use to purchase some ebooks. *win*
Not to mention a wonderful $30 Groupon to The Candleberry Company - which I just used this past week and can't wait until my order arrives. I have heard wonderful reviews about their products so I went ahead and purchased this savings.

Seriously, if it is something you use or have wanted to try the savings you receive are wonderful.

Check it out through my referral link and see what kind of savings are in  your future.

Wearing many hats....

No, I'm not really wearing many hats but doing many jobs.

It is not easy and is starting to take it out of me.

Things are just go, go, go here and honestly I just want to stay.

Sleep is not going that well either for me.

Our older dog (Autumn) has kidney disease and suffering from stage 4 heart murmur which keeps me up most of the night. She has to go out twice during the night  and then needs her water. I sometimes think it is worse than when you bring a newborn home with the lack of sleep I get. Don't get me wrong I love her dearly (she's 17), but I would just like a bit of sleep. I tend to just doze off some days for 10-15 minutes in mid sentence - talk about embarrassing.

I would like to shake some of these hats off, kick off my shoes and just unwind.

Ah, well in time I am sure.

So, how are things in your life?

Turkey Fried Rice

Mmmmm.... fried rice.

Everyone in our house loves fried rice but we know that it is not always good for us. I found this recipe last May and finally gave it a whirl.

Please make sure that you look for the lower fat ground turkey (93/7) not just any ground turkey.

This was one big hit! Tasty and oh.so.easy to create. I was told that I could make it again and again - so I would say that it was a hit. :D

NOTES :
  • I used Jasmine rice due to it having a bit less of carbs than white rice.(recipe does not reflect this change)
  • I omitted the bean sprouts due to them not being liked in this house. :)
  • I added about another 3 TBSP of soy sauce when cooking.
  • Look for the 93/7 lean ground turkey will reduce the calories.
